About Victory Mission
Victory Mission is a Christ centered food and clothing ministry to the poor. Through the distribution of emergency food and clothing we are able to assist over twenty thousand people each year in Central Ohio. Also, in an attempt to be sensitive to long term needs, Victory Mission maintains a Family Assistance Center that helps families facing various crises such as homelessness, utility shutoffs, and unemployment. We try to prevent homelessness before it happens. Our ministry philosophy is based on Deuteronomy 15:11 that states:
“For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you saying, You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to the needy and the poor in your land.”
The vision of Victory Mission began in a small storefront in the spring of 1983. Recognizing the plight of the poor in our area, and desiring to be true to Jesus’ command to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and preach the Gospel to the poor, the ministry was born. This concept at Victory Mission has not changed since its beginning; to provide emergency food and clothing assistance to those in need and to minister the Gospel of Jesus at the same time. Since the ministry’s conception in 1983, thousands of needy people are helped each year with food, clothing, furniture, and other forms of crisis intervention. To date, Victory Mission has given away over 4.5 million pounds of food to those in need. Hundreds of these same people each year have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior upon hearing the Gospel in our chapel!
Each year we have special events such as our Easter Outreach, School Supply giveaway, Toys for Joy, and our Christmas Outreach. At our 21st Annual Christmas Family Outreach this past December, we gave away over 53,000 pounds of food (which included over 4,000 pounds of turkey parts and fresh produce) that provided 1,081 families or 3,470 individuals with their complete Christmas dinner. We also distributed over 2,500 new toys and gifts to these families.
